Something happened, but I can’t tell you whether it was bad or good. There has been a collapse at our shelter. It wasn’t terrible, but it broke our water pipes and caused a small electrical fire. Our relocation on the other end was the best thing that could happen. We were moved to what you could call Glassbolt’s classiest neighborhood. (Which just means it’s the least shitty. ) There is a large fishing lake, A small park in the middle of the Shelters and grass. You read that right, Grass! Having a little less sand around has been a blessing that I didn’t even know I was missing out on. And then I haven’t even mentioned what our new shelter looks like. You can almost call it an actual house. The top floor has three bedrooms, each containing two single beds. It’s also got two bathrooms, a computer and a chessboard.
The floor second floor has two bedrooms, each with a double bed and a personal bathroom. We put four computers, a boxing bag and Alice’s easel up there.
The ground floor is my favorite. We have a small kitchen, another bathroom and an actual living space with couches and a small tv. My favorite things are still our family photo’s though. We have mom’s urn up on the bookcase too.
The first basement floor is a dining area just like in our old shelter. It is littered with hobby items for everyone. The walls are just brick, so I told Alice to spraypaint her heart out. I think she and Charlie are going to do that together.
Then the bottom basement is what Charlie has ironically dubbed the ‘outer womb.’ It’s a large space completely decked out in childrens toys. We expect to live in this place for a while, So it’s prepped for any future kids that may live here too. Ruby will also be sleeping here.
Speaking of Ruby, it’s actually been ages since I last wrote anything. Ruby is a small toddler now, and she is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. She has long shiny black hair and adorable hazel eyes. The last thing might not make sense unless you really think about it. My grandmother had blue eyes that only aunt Naomi got. My grandfather had Hazel eyes that only uncle Matthew got. My Mother had Grey eyes and no one knew where they came from. My father has hazel eyes as well. They had four kids, of which three with grey eyes and one with hazel eyes. Now my child, who has a grandparent, a great-grandparent, a great-uncle and an aunt with hazel eyes has hazel eyes too. Still following me, Imaginary reader?
Aside from odd family genetics Ruby is a very Inquisitive girl. She will ask the most intense questions a toddler can think of, but when I try to take her cloud gazing she often falls asleep in the grass. Still a bit too young for that I guess. -Damien
