Dad is finally getting himself together. We sat down and talked for what seemed like hours. About mom, about work and about living here. He wasn’t around much when I was younger because his hours are crazy. And I was the lucky one. Out of all of my siblings I was the one that got the most attention from him. Regret has apparently been building up for ages. He gave me some wonderful advise though. “Son, someday you will have to make a choice between yourself and your children. No matter how hard the path, always pick your children.”
He told me some stories about the outside world, just like when I was a kid. I don’t want my baby girl to grow up confined in these walls. I don’t want her to eat only fish and unions. And I most definitely don’t want her to grow up without education, simply because it isn’t safe for a child to leave your eyesight for more than a minute. I want my baby to be free.
I guess that starts the waiting game. I have to keep trying to get books into the world and I need to have faith that my siblings will also keep trying to achieve their goals. Eric and Sam are weeks away from their birthday and are finally about to enter the work force. They have some of the hardest tasks out there. Eric is to work for S.B.I and eventually make it to a government position. He is going to be ruling the area from the shadows, with the mob as his closest business partner. It’s convenient he is the son of a woman the region feared.
. Sam is to join the GBPD police force. Make the streets safe again with a couple of bribes on the side and our children can go to school. Then there is Diana. She is so young, but has already started training to prepare herself for a position as engineer and entrepreneur at uncle Matthew’s company.
It seems my family is in everyone’s business and holds the key to making Glassbolt a normal city again. Now let’s hope we work fast. -Damien
